Go Amber With That Glaring Patio Light

For those of you with a newer AS, I've found the source to replace the plastic clear lens with amber.

The company is Truck Lite. The part number for the current (2011) amber lens is: 9016A.
Truck-Lite - Catalog Product : Replacement Lens, 9016

Their web site is not very helpful, but here's a link that will show you your nearest retailer.

I've often wondered about the EOM spotlight, er, I mean, patio light on ours. Thought about taking it out and painting the reflective surface with a less reflective color.

You could also use an amber bulb behind the clear lens.

For those of you who don't like melted lens.

My previous trailer was a Casita.

One of the forum members contacted a LED marketeer and subsequently arranged a group buy.

Here is a LED bulb that replaces the 1156 or 1141.

re: less reflective reflector

The rear of the light housing aka reflector, bucket, or back can, doesn't serve as a recflective surface with this type of lens design. The groves in the lens are designed (angled) to direct light emiting only from the location occupied by the bulb filament. Light emitting (including reflections) from other areas within the light housing has little or no effect on the output through the lens.

Whew. glad I didnt grab a can of green spray paint and start blasting away at the reflector. I guess I will just go with the green lens then.

I got a red lens.. I think it was from VTS. Don't want to ruin my night vision.
