Entry/Porch Light
I need to get access inside my 1989 Entry/Porch light to connect a LED light strip. I only see two screws up through the door drip cap to secure the light.
Might I be missing another point of attachment due to the thick caulking around the light?

Mine is on a 2007, but looks very similar to yours.
To get to the interior of the light, pry around the edge of the plastic lens with a small screwdriver. As I recall, i had to push in on a corner and then work it out to get to the socket. Work slowly and gently, as I bet your plastic is even more brittle than mine...
I think there are more screws driven into the metal part from inside the shell or something. I did not have to remove the metal part to change to an LED array instead of a single-bayonet incandescent bulb. Now, hopefully, I don't have to pry the lens out again...

Thank you. Hopefully your help will allow me to tie in the LED lights to the porch light.

Jeff,
There is a screw on top of the porch light. I would not remove it.
You can access the light inside by prying the plastic cover out of the aluminum frame.
Here are some photos of the bulb and housing.
The black wire is 12 volt (+) and the Aluminum mount is the 12 volt Negative (-)

Do you believe it is possible to power an LED light strip from the light fixture (so as to have the strip switched from it)???

Penetrating oil needs to be used 24 hours ahead of time and do it again right before you try to get those screws out. If you ring the heads off, your in for a hard project. They are not easy to get out once that has happened.
