Electrical questions

We just purchased a 1981 Excella and have several questions re: switches and outlets. There is a lighted 2 position slide switch near our exterior door. What is it and what does it control?
Several of our 110 volt duplex outlets don't seem to work. Why? Someone suggested they are connected to our inverter, but I'm not sure how to check the veracity of that statement.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

If your 110 volt outlets don't work, check the 110 volt breaker box to determine if breakers have tripped. You must be connected to shore power for the 110 volt outlets to work. You will have to "play" with things to see if they operate from the 12 volt switch by the door. You must have battery power to determine what it operates. All the lights in the trailer run off of 12 volt. You must check to see if your converter is working, that plugs into 110volt outlet and charges your batteries. If you have the old humming Univolt, I strongly suggest replacing with a new style 3 or 4 stage charger.

About half the outlets are on the inverter circuit with a pass through switch/relay for shore power. The Inverter must have 12V power for the pass through to work. Check the inverter lead fuse and the inverter. Can't help you with the light switch.

Could the mystery switch be the "Use/Store" switch? Try switching its position and checking your 110 circuits again.

The two position switch is likely for the step light and the outside light. At least that is what it is for in our '04 Classic.

Added on inverter? Depends upon how it is installed and wired. I doubt the '81 came with an inverter.

The '81 probably has a AC/Microwave switch that switches between the outlets for those 2 units. That switch is usually located in a overhead cabinet in the kitchen. There may be a switch by the sofa that switches the outlet for the converter on and off. And do check all the breakers by fipping them off and back on. And check to see if there is a GFI breaker that is popped.

I got no idea for the slide switch by the door. Is it a dimmer for something?

There is no Inverter in a 1981 model unless somebody put one in , and that is highly unlikely. Possibly switch by the door is for the "scare light", or the over door outside light.
Again' you must have 12 volt battery power to determine the use.
