complete novice question

I have an 87 Airstream 345. First RV ever. It's been pretty much sitting for 17 years. I'm using a honda generator for power. If I plug in the 50amp cord, I have found the wall plugs work, inside and out. None of the interior lights under the cabinets or the ceiling lights work. The two exhaust fans near the AC units worked once, but not now. Is there a breaker I need to flip to switch from onboard gen pwr to pole campground juice? Or is this an issue a bag of fuses can fix. I trying to learn fast, please be kind..thanks.

The lights and exhaust fans run on the 12 volt system, not 120 volt. There should be a switch for the 12 volt system, batteries for the "house" separate from the battery to start the engine and a converter to charge the batteries. Note sort term you should be able to run the 12 volt stuff from the converter, if the converter is original it can't regulate power good enough to not damage electronics long term.

Where is that switch??? I know they're separate systems, the 120 and 12.

No insult intended, just trying to be clear since you said novice question.
On my 88 trailer it's above the batteries, I don't know where it would be on your motor home. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.

If you don't already have a manual, you can find a pdf copy of the manual for your coach on the Airstream website. Section H deals with the 12-volt system and may help with your understanding of your coach.

Good luck with resolving your electrical issue!
