Unhappy Awning LED strip won’t go off

Hello streamers! I have read quite a few issues people have come across and the great ideas and informed responses that they receive back. Way better than some dealer responses.
Here’s my stumper. Have a 2016 25’ FC rear Q bed, purchased new 11/15.
In Sept 2016 the LED strip light suddenly just would not shut off. AS sent me a new switch, I installed it and all was well.
During a recent 2 week trip, I noticed that the strip was on, I checked the wall switch, but the light stayed on. Removed the fuse incorporated with the switch and it still stayed on. Removed switch completely and light stayed on. Went outside and unscrewed the connector plug and that killed the light. I don’t want to have to incur a heavy dealer service bill to trouble shoot this issue if I don’t have to.
Any ideas? Appreciate the help.

Somewhere the positive supply line to the LED strip has gotten short circuited to a 12 volt supply line.

This can be a PITA to troubleshoot, but start by looking for a short near the switch in the wiring. Hopefully it’s reachable.

Update: when I pulled the 15 amp fuse in spot #6 which says red furnace, the LED strip light went out. So I accessed the furnace area by removing a drawer and removed the outside access plate. Now just what to look for specifically?

Two wires making contact with each other. As in damaged insulation, exposed copper in contact.

The real bad thing is if the fuse is unrelated to the light, it could be a concealed short inside the walls. But start in the vicinity of the switch.

Pulled the wire harness out the as far as possible behind the switch and didn’t see any damaged wires. But for some reason, when the fuse to the furnace is removed the led strip goes out. So I’ Guessing it’s drawing electricity from the furnace line, hopefully it’s in the area that’s exposed. Question now is do I look for a yellow wire similar to the one that goes to the led fuse at the switch or what?

Hard to say without being there in person, but the idea is to trace the wiring to the LED connector back through the harness and wiring to see what’s going on. Another thing to try is disconnect the switch wiring after taking a picture. Plug the LED strip back in and then replace the fuse. That would confirm another bad switch as the cause if the strip stays off.

Having the accurate wiring diagram for the trailer would help a lot.

Hope that was your issue. A simple fix if the fuse was bad. AS customer service advised me that that fuse was placed there to drop the amp down for the LED lites since the fuse at the box is 15amps.
