7 Wires in, but 4 wires to lights..???

Hey guys , sorry if i explain this wrong, but, I'm redoing the 1960 TW wiring and the new harness has only three wires dedicated for the lights (brake, running, turn.) The original rear lights, have two pigtails each, and three wires to them, one each for the turn, brake, and the running....) Is the turn seperate, from the brake and running ???? and if so, how do I reduce the needed wire from four to three???
Thanks for any help, 12 v challenged, M.
