I figured out a new way to fix the "ball and socket" of my 65 Overlander interior lights (the spun brushed aluminum cone shaped fixtures). After all the good comments, and thinking about it for awhile, I found a new way to "crimp" the fixture to hold the ball securely in its socket.
After disassembly, I got a 4" "c" clamp and placed the ball in socket and then tighted up the clamp whcih draws the ball into the socket. I then took a small hammer and placed the clampholding the fixture part on an anvil (or other metal surface) and carefully hammered around the lip of the socket and slowly formed the metal around the ball. After it was completed and I rotated it so I reached all sides I removed it from the clamp and viola! Now secured and rotating like it was new I touched up the small hammer markrs with some alunimum paint. After drying I reassembled the fixture and it works like new!
