2022 27GT sewer light observation

I’ve noticed from time to time that my outside light to help drain the tanks is on. To turn it on you press the light housing. Same to turn it off.

What I noticed the other day is it came on after running the water pump. The vibrations from the pump seem to be enough to turn it on. To be fair, the pump was noisy and must have had some air in it (a whole other issue I’ve noticed happens often).

I’ve tried to screw the light housing in and out to see if I can make it less sensitive but nothing helps yet. Anyone else notice this and have a solution?

I have also noticed the same issue although not sure if it is the water pump, I'll have to try that out. I was thinking of just pulling it all out and replacing with a separate physical switch and light.

Join the club. I have the same issue. The light will turn on for no particular reason. Not sure there is much to do about it short of replacing it altogether.

Have you solved the mystery of the automatic sewer light? Time will tell.

Same problem here with our 2022 30FC. Searching the forums and elsewhere online tells me this is an issue that Airstream needs to be looking into. There are lots of us with this mysterious light problem! I've reached out to customer service about it to see if they have or are working on a solution. -Ari

I have the same problem too. I thought it was just me bumping it, but it has happened too many times for it to be a coincidence. I'll be watching this thread with interest to see if Airstream comes back with a solution.

Seems like this is a common problem. I have the same issue with our 2022 GT 30.

Me too. 2022 Flying Cloud 30. It's annoying, but less so than some other defects I've found.

Light Switch

This switch has not been a problem on our FC however while at Jackson this July i overheard a heated discussion with a owner claiming the same light on problem and the tech saying I can’t replicate the problem. They swapped out a new switch.

Easy to test just remove the switch and test the switch with an ohm meter hot temp and cold. Then hold the switch stationary and then while wiggling it. This might be a poor made internal switch connection.

I contacted Airstream customer service about our light and they offered to send us a replacement. When it comes in, I'll swap it out and see if that makes any difference. I'm wondering if it's a poor design or poor quality. [emoji2955]

I have a 2013 and just recently noticed this same issue. In my case I can’t turn the light off. It gets brighter when I activate the switch and dimmer when I disable. I was recently in So Cal for the Rose Bowl and got a lot of rain. Now back in Utah in cold temps and wonder if a water related short in the switch. Too cold to diagnose now (trailer is outside) but have us on shore power so batteries don’t trickle to death on me. Look forward to any other experience or diagnosis.

I'm all for things working as advertised, but does anyone actually use it? I forget mine is there.
I can't recall dumping tanks at night ever, but if I did I have a nifty rechargeable headband LED strip.

Also handy for grilling after dark or walking the dog at night.

Update on swapping to a new light... It helped a little bit. We were at a dealership for some other work and I had them swapped a new light in for the old one. Now it still comes on randomly but not as frequently.

So, it seems to be just a design flaw of some kind. At some point I may pull the light and replace it with a different type of switch light, or just plug the hole, as I have yet to see a reason for this light other than to frustrate us all. [emoji2369]
