2 Red LED light in Rear bath?

Hi guys.
While gutting the rear bath and pulling the inner skin to replace the subfloor and the insulation in the bathroom we came across 2 black wires.
They were hanging out above the polarity light and they look like Fiber optic with a red LED at the end they are weird.
Any ideas?
Toke a pic with the phone and is not that clear but we will post it later.
Any idea?
Thanks

They were fiber optic lines from the tail lights to a little thing on the outside rear of the trailer, on the drivers side, so you could see if your turn/brake lights were working. Since they are fiber optic, they even tested the bulbs! You could see the two red dots in the rear view mirror. It was and is still a very neat concept, a true Airstream innovation. Not sure why yours are not hooked up, or why AS discontinued them, but that is certainly what the lines you found are.

Really?
That is a cool concept. I was looking into the taillight assembly and I couldn't figure it out where is supposed to be mounted.

If a PO replaced the tail light buckets they may have taken them out. As I recall, the tail light end of the fiber went in right behind the bulb. The other end went to the outside indicator, just forward of the rear curved section, below the centerline. If that panel has been replaced the ends may have just been pulled out and left where you found them. I seem to remember the outside indicator part is no longer available. Andy would know. I can take a picture of the one on my Caravel if you would like.

A couple of photos. Besides showing how dirty my rig is after sitting under the carport for too long, you will see: A photo of the tail light bucket without the cover. The silver circle behind the bulb has one end of the fiber optic line. I always liked the fact that the buckets are black, as from the factory. Makes for bright lights, eh?

The other photo is of the little light thingee on the road side of the trailer, that you can see in the rear view mirror. Step on the brakes, both top and bottom light. Turn on the turn signal and the top will flash for one direction, the bottom for the other. It is not super bright, but does work fairly well and as I noted, tests to see if all the system, electrical and bulb, is working.
