1976 Clock and whatever that other thing is.
Has anyone had luck getting the clock over the front couch to work? Mine is battery operated, but new batteries don't make it run. Also there is another round thing up there that has something to do with the temperature, but I can't figure it out at all and don't know if it works, since I don't know what it does when it works. I'm thinking I could find a replacement round clock to install in there, but would like to fix these original things if I can. Any help?

Judy, our clock still works in Our Sovereign. You can get clock mechanisms that will fit where the old one is, remove the works, and install new works.
The temp thingy in our coach shows high, low, and current temps for outdoors, the probe is on the streetside front corner of the bananna wrap.

Thanks. I will work on that. Got any ideas where to get the new works or do I just buy a clock like this one and use some imagination?

I went to a clock repair place that also sells stuff. I took the old clock from the Airstream with me. They were able to make up a new one for me that fits perfectly and it only cost me $12

Try Michael's. They sell clock works to go into home built clocks, most run on a single AA battery.

Thanks to all. This has given me some great ideas. You know working on the trailers is part of the fun of owning them. When you get all through restoring it's kind of sad.

Judy,
Clock works in my 75 with new battery, but no go on the thermometer. I was thinking on having something neat made and placed in the spot.

Thanks for this thread. I wondered how to get my clock turning. I'll try batteries and if not new works from Michael's.

Maybe a barometer. If you learn how to read it, you can tell what the weather is about to do. If you don't learn how to read it, it's still pretty cool looking.

The thermometer has a remote bulb outside, usually near the A frame at the left front of the trailer. The capillary tube runs down a plastic tubing in the wall from the top of the front window. The thermometer has pins that you can close to the current reading that will open up to show maximum and minimum temperatures.
What usually happens to these is that the temperature sensing bulb gets destroyed or damaged making the thermometer inoperative.
You might be able to use the existing capillary to pull through a more modern sense wire for an electronic thermometer.

Our '87 has the old seven segment red LED for the clock and it works great with one exception. One of the segments on the far right digit is shot, so sometimes the minute is a guess . It also has inside and outside temperature. The inside is always right, but the outside registers a constant -40 even in the midst of summer . I guess I need to find the location of the outside probe to see if I can fix it so it isn't soo darned cold outside. Anybody know its location on an '87 34' Excella???

This is so great. Whatever you want to know, someone here has the answer because they've already tackled it. The Sovereign is down at the lake, so I can't do anything about it now. Could someone go out and measure the exact size of the clock and it's inside workings so I could start looking for replacement parts or a new clock? I'll be going into the big city on Friday and will have a chance to get to a store. Small towns are great, but selections are limited.

Here's what I have in the Sovereign. These pictures were taken when I was repairing and hanging vinyl wall covering on the end cap.

The clock is 3 1/4" in diameter. The thermometer is the same diameter.

You may want to take the clock with you . The original clocks have hands that friction fit on a round shaft , most newer works have keyed arms . The round are still available but not as common . With a little trial and error you can find the right size and use the original face and arms , if that's of interest to you.
Has anyone found a place that can/will repair thermometer?
