12 V outlet

I have been puzzled by this for some time (not hard to do!); there is a 12V outlet above the nightstand in our bedroom (similar to the one up front for near the television hookup...yet it does not seem to provide 12 volts? I plugged a batter charger into it and it popped the charger so I know it is supplying voltage. I have also plugged a DVD player into and it does not power the DVD player (which may have a built-in safe guard?).
What is this outlet for?
We do not carry a televison in our AS, is this something to do with the antenna booster?
I have not tested it with voltage meter...
It seems to supply voltage but not the correct voltage?
Everything else in our Excella works fine, 110 and 12 volts...
There is a 12 outlet in the bathroom also, that work fine.

Thanx, Bill

Me too.

I've noticed the same thing in my 75 International. It's the only 12 volt outlet I've found, but it's in the same location you described. Anybody have an idea what's going on?
Thanks,
TCM

I would put a volt meter on it. Maybe at some time a PO had it out and wired it backwards. The shell (casing) should be ground and the post in the center positive.

My trailer has 4 (I added one) and they all work the same. I have run my 12 volt fan and cell phone charger from all of these with no problems. Looking at the wiring diagram there is nothing special with these connectors.

Thanx-I will check that...
