Wax ring for toilet seal?

Is a wax ring acceptable to reinstall the toilet? The seal I took out was some type of soft rubber/foamy material.

You are better off using a new foam seal,you should be able to get one at any RV supply.

If you have an RV-model toilet, then a wax ring is a big NO NO! Every manufacturer of RV toilets have model-specific foam seals that should be used with that toilet. Wax rings are fine for a house, but your house won't bouncing down the road at 65mph, unless of course you liver in Kansas during a tornado.
