Toilet trap door/slide adjustment

Is there an adjustment that can be made to limit how far the trap door/slide can open? Toilet worked great until the last two trips. Now when I press the foot pedal, the trap door/slide opens all the way and sticks open. The door/slide appears to be hanging up on the rubber gasket/seal that the door/slide rest on.

I have put the rubber gloves on and made sure there is nothing impeding the door/slide from returning to its closed position. I have put some oil in the toilet to lubricate the door/slide. Nothing has helped. The only thing that was helped has been building a small platform under the foot pedal. The platform restricts the how far the foot pedal can travel and restricts how far the door/slide can open. This is a temporary fix.

As I said, this is a recent problem. There is a wire on the foot pedal that connects to the door/slide somewhere inside the toilet. Is there an adjustment that can be made to this cable?

Thanks
