Toilet Flange Replacement: 1969 Caravel

Hi,
My Thetford Aqua Magic 70 has a cracked water valve and I want to upgrade to s new toilet. I will go with a low profile Dometic 301 or equivalent but I forsee a problem with the flange. The existing flange appears to be a two piece - 1) metal base plate that bolts to the toilet and 2) ABS ~4 to ~3 reduction fitting that threads into the black water tank. The metal is rusty and one of the bolt holes is unusable. Are these two parts meant to come apart? Where can I source the metal part? The flange that is offered with the Dometic 301 is not threaded and is 1/2 bigger than the existing ABS as it fits into the black water tank.

Thanks in advance,

No! The metal one is original I have a 1966. Someone brought a aftermarket and stuck in in the metal..due to the bolts being messed up. See mine.. just take it to a machine shop or try to get the old rusty bolts out yourself. Or Use a threaded NEW FLANGE from HD or Lowe's ..

Thank Toilet Flange

Thank you for the reply.
Does the plastic portion of your flange rotate (screw) into your black water tank?
Mine existing one does and is 3 OD. The replacement one that came with my Dometic 310 is not threaded and is about 0.5 to big to slide into the backwater tank. I was hoping to take my existing screw in flange (plastic portion) and somehow attach a new metal 2 or 4 screw metal Flange plate.

I have bought a piece that is exactly what you need--threaded lower section to screw into the tank with a thick ABS plastic flange. I think I bought it at PPL RV. You can see their parts catalog online.

good luck!

Well..look at mine.. it is original. Mine flange is metal and a bit rusty..but it still functional. Someone went to HD and got a flange and made new holes in your shower to make something work with the to toilet. Maybe 30 years ago.. But they make what you need at HD Lowe's or Menards ..

YES it screws in.. But I dont know the thread size, i tossed my tank, building a new one
.
You need this one as it is 3in.

test fit then cut off any material to make it the size you need to match
