Shower Wall Scuffs From Shower Wand

Brand new FC30RB. 300 miles. Any ingenious solutions to this problem where the shower wand stainless tube is scuffing the shower wall?

For some reason our 2020 FC25RB never had this problem.

Thanks!

Hi, that looks bad. Clean the shower wall and replace that hose. The black must be coming from the inner hose. My hose loops around my handle so it dosen't bang around much.

I typically slide the shower head off the "wall mount", place a towel on the floor pan of the shower, placing the head and the hose on the towel so very little hose touches any of the finishes.

Leaving the shower head on the wall-mount stresses the mounting at every bounce and bump. We lay it on the shower floor when towing.

We lay the shower wand on the floor too.

I doubt the hose is "bad" in a brand new trailer! It's probably "just" the metal abrading on the wall - not good either way! But if you are looking for a solution to leave it in place while traveling, try a 6-8" section of a slit pool noodle put around the hose.

Assuming that the wall is not scratched, metal that has rubbed off on it can usually be removed with metal polish like Flitz or Wenol.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

We have a pretty decent pretow checklist but this task never got on our first one since we never noticed a problem. I'll check to make sure its not a bad hose. I like all the ideas suggested.

Thanks again!

If you want to try a simple and quick solution to clean off the marks you already have, consider a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge. Those things have gotten stuff cleaned off of items that I thought I would have to use a much more involved process to accomplish! -Ari

We have always wrapped it in a towel and laid it on the floor. Zero problems in doing this for the last 3 years.

A Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge is not safe for use on fiberglass and should not be used on plastic surfaces. The documentation on the package describes what the sponge can be used on.

UH, me too. Just one Airstream though, had it since 2009, over 65K miles on it and this hasn't been a problem for me.......yet. I am a believer in those white Mr. Clean sponge thingys.

I will suggest again a metal polish like Flitz. It will remove the metal that has rubbed off onto the gelcoat. It is safe (see the picture below showing that it is also meant for fiberglass).

It’s not likely actual metal that has rubbed off onto the shower wall…. It’s most likely only metal oxide…. which should come off with a cleanser. (Scrubbing Bubbles.)

Or, use buffing compound. This one is advertised for fiberglass: Meguiar's M6732 Marine/RV One Step Compound - Marine and RV Restorer That Removes Heavy Oxidation and Scratches While Restoring Gloss (paste into Amazon search bar).

Unfortunately with the materials they are using these days, it's normal. Magic eraser will take it right off. As far as prevention, maybe some kind of decal or sticky cling may prevent.
