Rusty Toilet water: 72 Tradewind

Fellow streamers. I have a lav conundrum.

I purchased a 72 tradewind that is parked, --hooked up to city water. If I don't flush the biffy for a week or two, the fresh water that comes into the bowl is very rusty for about 3 or 4 or 5 long flushes then turns clear. The water from the faucets in the bathroom and cooking area is always clean and never rusty.
I take it that some pipe that exclusively fills the potty has A LOT of rust in it.

Any ideas?? Thanks much..

John

Are you sure it's rust? It could be algae or just sediment. I know it's a crazy question but is it possible that the turlet is hooked up to the hot water line?

Lowes sells a water test kit that you can use to test about a dozen things. The kit costs about $25. it could be helpful to see what is in the water. if it's iron, you'll know. Also Is the bathroom sink or tub or for that matter the toilet stained brown at all. Iron water stains everything (I know because we have high iron at home).

Have you thought about doing a good chlorine flush of your system? I do this before each trip. I superchlorinate the water syystem and run i through the system until it comes out of every point in the trailer. Then let that sit for at least 20 min and then flush several times with fresh water. That may help you...
