No hot water pressure in shower
For some reason over the last two months, the hot water pressure is not working in the shower. When the hot water gets to the shower, the pressure reduced significantly. The hot water pressure works in the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink. Only the shower seems to be affected by this issue.
To our best ability, we have checked all the lines and made sure there are no leaks. The hot water heater seems to be working ok. The shut off valve under the sink is turned completely on.
Does anyone have any thoughts or pointers on how to fix this issue?
Thanks!

Problem with shower Faucet? Is it a single handle that mixes hot/cold?

Sounds like something loose in the faucet. Maybe disassemble and look. Probably a standard plumbing faucet with parts replaceable. Do it yourself or any plumber.

Ok but the issue is only when the hot water comes through the faucet. The cold water pressure is perfectly fine. But once the hot water heats up and gets to the faucet, the water pressure goes down. I would think if something was loose the cold AND hot water would be affected.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I had something similar happen to me with my 2006 back in 2010. I can't remember if it was just the hot, or just the cold but I had no pressure/flow out of the shower.
I replaced the Moen cartridge and that fixed it right away. I do remember seeing some sand or other type of debris in it. One side can be affected even in a single handle faucet.

Those type valves may have a temperature limiter to prevent scalding children and are part of the piece that may be loose.

What brand and model if you know? Is it OEM or added more recently than 1988? If original consider replacing IMO.
Good luck,
Peter

As plumbing is my trade it's quite possible that the shower faucet is a pressure balancing faucet. Sometimes after periods of not using the faucet the balancing spool becomes lodged. It depends which faucet you have, on some the balancing spool is in the cartridge and sometimes it's separate. Just remove the cartridge and give it a sharp tap on a solid wood surface. If everything is OK you should be able to shake it and the spool will slide back and forth freely.
Hope this works.
Good luck

Just went through this earlier this year on my '07 27FB.
It's the Moen cartridge.
It's a well known issue, likely from it not being used regularly. Call Moen support for lifetime warranty replacement to the original owner. It's a quick and easy call and they'll have it to you within a couple days.

I agree with tpeck...if it's a Moen single lever shower faucet, the cartridge needs to be changed. We just did this on our 2006 Bambi...exact same symptoms...cold water fine, but just a dribble of hot. You can find the instructions for changing the cartridge online with a little research of "Moen shower faucet"... The one thing that can be problematic is getting the old cartridge out...they can be stuck from corrosion. Moen sells an inexpensive pulling tool made specifically for the task. I had to use that, but with elbow grease and persistence and a good tug, I got it out. Reassembly was easy. Good luck!

Take out the cartridge, soak in vinegar overnight. Will most likely resolve issue.

Wondering if your faucet is OEM from 1988, or is a more recent model, and who the mfg. is.

You won't have that problem if it's an older cartridge. The older faucets are not pressure balancing. It's the balancing spool that's the problem. The older cartridges are about the size of your middle finger. The pressure balancing cartridges are about the size of your thumb or a little larger. It can sometimes be a problem to get it out. Just give the cartridge a sharp wrap on something & bingo Bobs your uncle. Before you put it back in just shake it to make sure that the balancing spool is sliding back & forth.

Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks to everyone who is helping!!
The RV is a 1985 Airstream Class A motorhome. The shower is all original. I don’t know who the manufacturer is. I attached a picture though.
How do I get the cartridge out?

I think the cartridge is in the shower head. It should unscrew.

I don’t think that’s what they are talking about. Cause I took apart the shower head and poked through the holes and whatnot and the pressure issue is still the same.
