Leaking pex connection

So Iím not good at plumbing and have never messed with pex so I decided to have a mobile repair guy come take a look and heís talking about replacing the whole shower mixing valve but I think itís just the elbow. Iím working 72 hours a week on night shift so I donít have a lot of options. Would a sharkbite fitting be my best option? I canít seem to find a 3/8s to 1/2Ē male fitting sold by Home Depot though.
I think I need this but opposite? Assuming the valve is 1/2Ē female?

1/2 in. Push-to-Connect x 3/8 in. MIP Brass 90-Degree Dishwasher Elbow Fitting

Sorry the picture is 90 degrees off

That sure looks like polybutyl pipe and fittings. Whole different pipe than pex. Same OD but different ID and not compatable. Shark bite makes a pex to poly transition fitting.
