Leak in shower drain assembly/p-trap - 2012 16' Bambi Sport

I noticed water leaking from the belly skin when using the shower in my 16' Bambi Sport. After cutting an access opening through the belly skin, I discovered the leak to be in the tailpiece/p-trap for the shower drain and replaced the p-trap and tailpiece but I can't seem to get the leak to stop. It is not clear if the leak is in the tailpiece connection to the shower drain, or the tailpiece connection to the p-trap. In either case, the fittings are extremely hard to access and getting proper tightening is a challenge. Hand tightening was not enough and I have been careful not to overtighten with pliers. The existing fittings had a blue, gummy material on the threads which I assume was applied at the factory to prevent the fittings from becoming loose and reducing the chance of leaks. Typical tools such as pump pliers are almost impossible to use in the limited space to access the fittings. This is driving me batty! Any ideas would be appreciated. Such a simple fix if it were under my kitchen sink.......

I’ve had a leave there before. Best advice I can give is to remove the entire P-trap and clean everything then reinstall with fresh plumbers putty and Teflon paste

Teflon paste must be the key

Thanks so much for your advice. I had not previously used teflon paste but I did as you suggested and no leaks! Thanks again!
