Almost done in this pic.
I agree unless you are 4 foot tall the tub is stoopid. Better off with a shower.

1972 tub

I would LOVE to see a video of someone taking out the tub... I just need to see how it's done. How can I get a visual on this process??

I am not exactly sure how your bathroom was built. Many people owning these vintage Airstreams have successfully removed all the bath fixtures including the tub.

For me, the tub was the last thing out. For me, I had to remove the lower plastic cover of the lower tub. Then the long bath sink countertop. You have to disconnect the plumbing lines to the sink faucet. There are decorative moldings covering the rivet lines. These come off first.

There is a "grab handle" front plastic shroud in front of the tub, but under the sink countertop, that is removed next. It is a pretty big piece too. Then the top shelf next to the tub, then the shower valve piece on the side of the tub, then the drain connection under the tub, then the rivets holding the tub to the back wall.

There aren't many videos of this process because people doing it usually growl and cuss some. Maybe these photos will help.

Just study how your bathroom is made and start in. Do it carefully as the plastic parts are brittle with age and can break.

Thanks all... gives me lots to think about. Wish I could work on this all the time but am limited to weekends. My glamorous life. Lol!! Tomorrow eve I'm going to sit down and pour over these options. I'm also learning to seal the exterior and have to come up with a safe scaffolding / some kind of rig or some such thing to get up over the roof and patch and seal.....🙄😆 I should have started this when I was younger. I might be done by now. Lol!

the tub seems to be pvc and is not fiber glass ( i don't think epoxy can fix it ).
Test to find out what it is first.

This is probably a stupid idea, but I keep seeing ads on TV for bathfitters.com.

Why not give them a call? Just to see if they could patch and line your tub and possibly the sink?

What I did

I had two holes in my tub and cracks everywhere on the surround. I pulled everything out. Melted metal screen into the ABS plastic around the hole using a wood burning iron with a flat wedge tip. Then applied Bondo. The screen gave the Bondo something to hold on to. did the same thing to the cracks except I used ABS welding rods to fill the cracks.

Hope this helps.
