Help! - Lavatory Faucet

I am trying to remove the lavatory faucet in our 2003 Safari 25SS. What did Airstream stick it down with - Crazy Glue?! Nothing I have tried has budged the plastic nuts under the lavatory in order to remove the taps. Anyone got any ideas apart from taking the whole counter top off and chiseling away at the dang thing!

I recently changed out the lavatory faucet to a single handle on our 2005 25' Safari. The plastic nuts that held the old one on were tight. I was able to loosten them by putting a pair of vise grips on the nut vertically at a slight angle. I was able to get the nut started that way.

They must put them on very tight at the factory. I have found that this is for a good reason as when I installed the new single handle faucet, the plastic nuts kept coming loose from the vibration. I finally had to tighten the with the vise grips.

Here is an additional tip that I almost forgot. When you install the new faucet, use the original sink drain. The ones that come with new bathroom faucets are the type for sinks with an overflow drain. These do not work in the stainless sinks in newer Airstreams. The reason that I mention this is that I spent an extra 3 hours removing the old drain, installing the new one, realizing that the new one wouldn't work, uninstalling the new one, and reinstalling the old one twice as it leaked the first time.

You might want to buy one of these basin wrenches - they can make life under a sink much easier.
