Help getting toilet out

We have a 2000 excella with a side bathroom. I discovered a leak this weekend coming from the back of the toilet. problem is there is only about 1 inch between the back of the toilet and the wall. I can only find one bolt that I can reach when I push the pedal down in the front. I took the nut off but toilet still won't move much. anybody know how to gwt these out??

Mine had a bolt at the 11:00 o'clock position when looking down at the bowl. To remove it, you removed a plastic plug beneath the seat and used a long ratchet extension. It was a pain in the...

Most have at least two nuts. 180 degrees from the one you found.

Did you put a mirror back there to see if you can see the leak? A paper towel wrapped around the tubing will show if they are leaking. I found mine was the water inlet tube where the plastic piece was screwed into the bowl section, didn't have thread sealant and was loose from vibration. Only leaked with pressurized water from cg, not just from the pump running.

Now I feel stupid, I never thought to put a mirror back there to see!!! Will take a look at it in the morning and let you know what I find.

Got the toilet out thanks to Overlander63!! Had to put a new valve on it.

Those valves are notorious for leaking, and of course they are so easy to get to in order to replace them...

We have a 1981 Excella II with rear bath and are having the same/similar problem…..
Unfortunately, the Service and Owner’s Manuals are rather vague and just state…
“remove from the floor and set on padded bench”… with NO indication of how far you can move the toilet to detach the input line.
Any help would be appreciated….do you detach at the toilet, or elsewhere?
Neither manual we have tells about the ‘laundry bag???’ behind the backrest of the toilet.
The padded backrest is hinged at the bottom and has a roller snap at the top. Gently tug at the top and the backrest flips down to expose a bag that is secured with 6 snaps. Great design for utilization of space….but why not document it??!?!?! It was several years before I discovered it.
Will attempt to remove the toilet when we end our trip, but any feedback about disconnecting the line would be appreciated.

This was a huge help as the service manual diagrams were very fuzzy! We had to remove the toilet to finish pulling out the old carpet. Yuck.

Thanks to both John and Tammy and Mike. We purchased a 1972 25 ft. Trade Winds Land yacht last October and have just gotten around to cleaning it up this week. We didn't realize how dirty it was until we gutted it yesterday. The decision to remove everything came after my husband pull out the disgusting carpet on Tuesday and found a small portion of rotten floor due to a window leak. When we got to the toilet, we could not find how it was attached to the floor. Once I read both of your responses as to where the two bolts were, it took us only 5 minutes to get it out. Thank you both!!

1. Does anyone know of any kits to elevate the standard comode issued in 1981?
or?
2, does anyone know if the Dometic 310 Series 18" is a 'no brainer' replacement installation, or does it take costly reengineering to align to the black water tank?

I just put a Thetford riser on my toilet in my Classic. Problem is there probably isn't anything out there for a toilet that is over 30 years old. You might just consider a new toilet if you need the additional height.

Our toilet is a Thetford Bravura. The kit comes with longer rods which allow you to couple the platform with the toilet. The Bravura's bolts are in a pop up panel that surrounds the foot pedal. Easy to deal with and no need to cut the rods since the toilet hides them.

Easy install with the right one, longer bolts do the connection and gasket formed on bottom and place for old gasket to fit at the top, give about 3 inches height, could be a problem in how much room top of toilet has between top back edge and laundry backrest.

Yep if you look at my picture above, there is a door that swings out over the top of the toilet. With the additional height I was still able to swing the door open...but now I have to raise the lid and the seat to open the door. Typically we use that for stuff that we don't access frequently so this really doesn't cause issues. Unless you accidentally drop something.

Hi Helpful friends.....
I am back trying to remove the toilet.
I am first trying to detach the supply line,, but having great difficulty.
I can put a 17mm wrench on the plastic fitting and have to grab the clamp on the plastic hose, but then can only move the wrench about 30 degrees.
Very slow process to remove the supply line.



1. Does anyone have a better solution?

2. Is it better to detach the entire line from the water pump?

3. If I cut the line to replace the toilet, will I be able to later use a connector with regular hose clamps, or is the grey line too stiff for hose clamps.

Project on hold....awaiting advice....
