Question Crapper took a Crapper

Thinking it is time to replace the original commode in our 1976 soverign. On top of the lovely yellow tinge it has taken over the years. It has not been opening and closing the best when we push the foot controls and to seal deal started to leak a little. So has anyone replaced theirs? What model did you use? Anything you would have done different?

Used a Tetford Brava with a riser in my 88 airstream. I had a hard time getting the old one out. rusty bolt. had to cut away a corner of the toilet to get enough room to saw the bolt off. Have to be careful not to damage the plastic flange it is hooked to. Have to be careful putting it on the flange. Be sure to line the correct holes up so that the toilet is centered over the flange. On the model I have it could be placed off center.

I used the Thetford Bravia as well. It is an easy install. Be sure to use an RV type foam ring seal to the flange instead of a wax ring from the big box store. The vibration of towing the trailer will caus the wax one to fail eventually.

I just replaced my original with a Thetford Bravura with riser as well. Definitely a longer bowl. It looks good..Have not used it yet but the flush is better than the old toilet.

HI, I'm new and I have a toilet leak. My name is Mark Two Blades Williams. I have a 73' Sovereign. I pulled the toilet and it has a wax ring. Is this normal? If not, what do I use to replace it?

Thank,
Two Blades

Hi there!

It's called a "closet gasket" up here. You need to replace it, if that's the cause of your leak. Wax is still available, but some folks prefer the foam ones.

They come in several thicknesses. At any hardware store.

Welcome to the Forums, Chief. We're glad to have you. Keep posting about your fix - someone else is likely working through the same project.

Thetford 31121 Aqua Magic Bravura Low Profile

I have a 73 31' center bath.
took out the old aqua magic Galaxy 30 toilet when i recovered the walls in bath. after a thorough cleaning i was going to replace most of parts.
not worth the money, labor or time.
this is my replacement choice (Thetford 31121 Aqua Magic Bravura Low Profile)
any coments are welcomed.

thanks.
jim.

ps: after hooking up a temp. propane tank to the water heater, started up like new and i had hot water in about 10 min. pilot stayed lit and worked all day. at first it would not stay lit then read a post by Andy about not enough presure @ high altitude. so i turned heat down to low and it stayed lit all day. there is so much info here.

Terlet issues are not limited to older trailers. I recently had to replace the terlet in my 2003 Classic, for what I take to be the same reason - the slide dealie just would not "seat" when closing, allowing a bouquet of aromas to arise from the tank below. My AS tech said it was quicker for him (and thus cheaper) to install a new Bravia.

They just don't make'em anything like they used to. The 1954 Marvel fridge & Princess stove still work like a champ. Go figuh . . .
