Repair kit has arrived. Pretty simple: a jar of almond color gelcoat, a small bottle of hardener, and an instruction sheet. I'll be getting to work on this in a week or so. I will post pictures too.

The best part of any trip is when you pull away from home.
I use quick plastic ,2part epoxy putty. It's at home depot works great .
It is a pale blue when it drys .didn't matter to me because I plan to paint
Over it with 2part epoxy paint for tubs, also at home depot.
I am looking for a refinish product for my fiberglass shower and abs sink also. I want to do a total recoat and checked home depot and lowes this morning and was told they do not carry any two part paints. My local ace hardware also does not carry any. I did find some at the local marine store and was nearly overcome with sticker shock when I found that one quart was $85. The guy at lowes tried to sell me porch paint.
Home depot has magic 2 part epoxy tub refinisher . It's 30 a kit .
You can find it in the tub and plumbing area, it's not in paint section .
Bought some last night . Good luck .

We were looking at the same kits yesterday. We also asked the person in charge of the paint dep at HD about the difference between the epoxy in the tub refinishing kit and the others in spray paint also epoxy and we didn't get an answer.
Wondering if you got any experience with the product. Any pics of the finished product?
I read somewhere that cheap refinishing of tubs doesn't last very long. However, that was for porcelain finishes. I don't know how it works on plastics, but for the price if it lasts a few years, I suppose you are ahead of the game.

I'm in the middle of restoring a 1973' Tradewind and have similar cracks. I believe the material is an ABS plastic. I don't believe that polyester (fiberglass) or epoxy resins will bond well with this material. There is also a heat with polyester resins that I'm afraid may melt/warp the item. I'm looking at a relatively new product from West Systems called G-Flex epoxy. There promo includes cutting a plastic kayak in half and glueing it back together.
Colonial Airstreams has an individual who is coming in to repair my crack that was created when the shower stall was installed. Suggest everyone give them a try!

I've had a few small cracks over the years and repaired them with a kit that I got from my RV parts supplier. I think the brand name was Devcon but can't remember for certain.
For more serious cracks I first stop-drilled the ends of the crack. Then mixed up the two-part resin, which I coated over the crack. The kit comes with a small patch of fiberglass cloth which I've used to reinforce cracks that are 1" or longer.
My shower pan is an almond color and the kit comes in a similar color though it is not a perfect match. No problem though since most repairs are hidden under a rubber mat, and my goal was to stop the cracks from spreading and prevent any leaks.
I'm back. Had a few things like home chores and taxes get in the way of my Airstream repair, but I made a little progress this week. Here's a look at the kit I got from Ultra/Glas, and a pdf of the instructions.

First step is to scratch out the crack. This also is when you find out if there are any chips, or if the crack is more than just the gel coat. Mine is just in the gel coat and no chips.

Next step is to sand the area around the crack. Not wanting to create a large area to finish, I wrapped a sheet of 180 grit sand paper around the end of my utility knife with the blade extracted.

I'm now trying to get the right mix of gel coat and catalyst. It's a little tricker than it seems, but I think I have the right number of drops of catalyst per Tablespoon of gel coat. Too much and it stays a little sticky when dry. Too little and it never hardens.
When mixed properly, it has the consistency of latex paint. I will probably use a small throw away artists's brush apply it.
I'm away for the next two weeks, so I won't get back to this until the end of the month. Have to get this done as we leave for Alaska on Memorial day.
