Closet flange and new cork floor.

I just installed cork flooring in our 77 Sovereign and now I'm trying to figure out how to install the closet flange.I've been reading up on it how some are cutting the flooring so the toilet sits on the plywood flooring instead of new flooring so the seal makes good contact with toilet but then you have to cut a hole for flush pedal which I don't like.I think I have enough flex in the black tank to install the original closet flange on top on new flooring even though it's not quite a 1/2 thicker.Any thoughts on this???Also any idea what kind of sealant should be used on the threads of the closet flange to tank?
Thanks
Mike

Desertair,
I think you can/should remove the toilet flange completely, cut a hole in the cork to match the original hole in the sub floor. The cork should not add too much thickness to the depth of flange you'll need. You should be able to reuse the old flange. If you need a taller/deeper flange, you can get them at any large RV place. I used regular pipe thread sealant on the threads of the flange. Here is a pic of Abby's closet flange.
