Hi all -
We have just received our first AS - a
1961 16' Bambi that has been in my husband's family since the 70's. We are the new caretakers and are expected to hand it down to next generation when we are done (done=tired, dead, broke, dead broke, etc.)
My first task: taking apart the Swirl-O-Matic toilet for a good cleaning and inspection. The bowl came off nicely, and I've just finished removing the gasket and scraping off the old wax ring. The gasket is in surprisingly good condition - still pliable and no cracks. Since this gasket is reusable and no longer being made, what should I clean it with so that I don't destroy it? I've read to clean it with 409 and then soak it in transmission fluid or brake fluid before replacing it. Way too much info out there, not sure who to listen to.
Thank you much
