Cleaning bathroom & toilet

What is safe to use on the sink and toilet in my '71 Safari.

The sink and counter is that molded fiberglass stuff.

The toilet says to use only special cleaners and I assume you don't use bleach.

Just wondering what everyone else uses?

Cleaning bathroom & toilet

Greetings Safari Tim!

For light soiling, I utilize Murphy's Oil Soap as it is kind to all surfaces and leaves a clean, fresh scent. For heavier soiling on both the fiberglass in the shower/tub and on the ABS in the vanity and toilet, I use a product called The Works that I purchase at Wal Mart - - - it is a special clearner designed for fiberglass and plastic that is non-abrasive and cleans effectively.

Kevin,

That sounds soooo professional, I don't know what to say.

I discovered Murphy's Oil Soap years back and love the stuff. Its not harsh, not abrasive, works great for really dirty laundry and I can't say enough good about it. Great Stuff for almost anything. Haven't tried it on the dog yet..........

Our's had stains that no cleaner would get out so when my wife wasn't looking I used 600 grit sand paper, sanded out the stains then waxed it with fiberglass wax.
Hope you don't have to go to this extreem but I did solve the problem.

Great Idea

Never thought of using the Oil Soap on the fiberglass things. I will try it today as we are going to Lake Tahoe next week.

We do use spray on silicone in the toilet bowl before each trip while it is dry. The plastic is a little rough and this makes it easier to clean. It also works in the sink and on top of the counter. I don't recommend it for the shower though.

Ciao, Brian

I have read many of the threads and I still have not found an answer to my dilemma in cleaning the poopee nubs (I know, sounds disgusting to me too) from my toilet bowl without using an abrasive or chemical product. We have tried everything but cannot remove those little dots that accumulate in the bowl. We've even tried a plastic spoon as a scraper.

Any helpful solutions would be appreciated.

Sometimes prevention is the best cure....

Before using the thetford for it's intended purpose, sometimes it is helpful to lay a few folds of paper in the landing zone.

Then, when the plunger is depressed, theoretically everything is flushed down the hole.

haha love that Garry...sometimes I wish the elves would do tricks like that behind my back. I wouldn't be able to stand knowing it was being done but what I don't know won't hurt me so I approve, wholeheartedly!

As to the er'ahem 'nubs' try bon ami, it's non abrasive but works as if it is.

Easy-off fume-free oven cleaner might work, if you drain the bowl first (turn off the water, then flush). If it will clean cooked-on residue from a grill, it should do for your toilet bowl, too. Best of all, spray it on, go have a beer while it does its thing, then come back and scrub lightly with a regular toilet brush, then turn the water back on and rinse. Simple.

Easy-off is my default cleaner for just about anything that otherwise would require hard scrubbing.

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide? Put a dab on a one spot using a q-tip... It removes a lot of organics.

Also, strange, yet a bit of Dawn on a dryer sheet and moisten a little. Rub spot. It removes "love bugs" remains very nicely.
