Broken ‘57 tub - replicate w/ aluminum?

The title says it all. My poor tub has been through the wringer. When I bought it, they were using it to cook crack and had it painted like a psychedelic Hawaiian scene. When the trailer was worked on, it was sanded down and recoated to a nice, Airstream cream. Now, as holder of the kitty litter box (and shower), it has finally stood up and said “Hey! I’m 65 years old!” And promptly cracked in one corner and broke a hole in another.

So, I thought to myself: “Self: why don’t I just find someone to refashion a replica tub out of aluminum (or steel)?

What do y’all think?

I'd go straight to fiberglass, either a solid repair or use the original as a form to make a mold to make a new tub.

As truckasaurus said, fiberglass might be your best
option. We did not have an existing shower pan to use as a pattern. You can see how we built ours starting at post #422 on our build thread. It’s not that difficult and you can make it whatever color you want. Good luck
