Hi Menzies57, I am in the process of replacing our old thetford toilet with a Dometic 310.
I have the old toilet out, and the new one ready to go. Just waiting for my wife to install the new flooring before i install the new toilet. During this project I also removed the black holding tank and replaced the gaskets on the thetford dump valves, they were leaking. After reading numerous threads, I had the incentive to go forward with these projects and look forward to new ones in the future.

Dometic 310 in ours. One of the few things we won't have to upgrade since the PO replaced last year almost one year to the day looking at the receipt.

I see, yes ours is a Thetford. Thank you for the info! Is the Dometic taller? My husband is 6'4" and the Thetford is just so low! I'm wondering how complicated it is to repair the original. One of the pedals doesn't work so the only way to use it is to turn the water valve on at the wall behind the toilet, use the restroom, flush, then turn the wall valve back off, not exactly good at the moment for guests!

Most Manufacturers have the low style and the high style. We replaced ours with a Dometic China Bowl (link below), high toilet with the hand flush sprayer option. It works really well and the higher seat is a great help. I'm taller too. (and fatter)

BTW, if your low boy is original (15 yrs old), I would replace rather than repair. I'm pretty sure you can still buy parts, and you can buy a spacer to raise it up a few inches. But I wouldn't. Either way, you would have to remove the old one. It's not hard to change if you don't have wood rot issues. Sometimes you need to replace the flange, but that's not so hard on a trailer of your era. It's likely that it will be a remove and replace procedure without much trouble. Remember they use a rubber seal, not a wax ring. I'm just saying...

It sounds like you need a new flush valve. I replaced mine. It was 20 bucks or so. Replacing it was simple after the toilet was pulled.
I also replaced the flange because it broke when I tightened up the bolts when re-installing the toilet. It was also a simple process

Quick follow-up question!: We currently have a Thetford Aqua magic Galaxy Starlite toilet, probably a 1992 model. Are both the Dometic 310 & 320 compatible? I'm also trying to figure out the difference between those two. It sounds like the bowl of the 320 is longer and has a top lip? Also what does the "China" model mean? And it looks like standard height is 18" and low-profile is 14" if I read correctly. Thank you so much for your info!

All RV toilets bolt to the same standard flange. When swapping toilets, you have to look at the measurements of the new toilet your are considering and see if it will fit in your existing toilets location.
China means the bowl is porcelain, not plastic.

Sooo excited to say that after much deliberation I order the Dometic 320 in Bone. Never thought I'd be so excited about the toilet! Thank you so much for all your help, it's supposed to arrive by May 23rd :-)

I am attempting to do the same swap and am finding the toilet mounting bolts are set at 11 and 5 o'clock for the Thetford Aqua Magic versus the 9 and 3 for the Dometic.
The whole flange is twisted about 15 degrees from me being about to install the new toilet. It seems to me the flange is screwed down and glued to the plywood flooring.
What did you all do about that alignment?

I just replaced my original toilet this summer. My old flangebolt slots would not align with the new toilet. I replaced the flange, which was simple because my toilet is on a raised box. It has an access panel that you cam pull to get to a big hose clamp that holds the flange in the tank neck.
If you can't replace your flange easily, you can get an adapter a big box store that will allow you to have the flange bolts in the location you need.
