Aqua Magic toilet (original) flushes fine, but then water keeps flowing nonstop/slowly. When it happened the first time I was able to stop it by pushing the foot pedal up, but now I can't stop water flow. Turned off water at source. Would appreciate help figuring out what is wrong. Am not skilled at plumbing. We only use AS in summer, never take it on the road.

I can't believe it, our original toilet, same brand, 1982 started doing the exact same thing last night! Our manual says to check and make sure that there isn't any toilet paper stuck in the trap that opens at the bottom of the toilet keeping it open. (This wasn't our problem as we checked.)

We had trouble with our foot pedal too. We don't have a solution yet. We turned the valve off to the toilet so we could use water in the sinks etc.

We are going to see if we can find a repairman today. We will let you know what we find out.

Hi,
Would really appreciate knowing what you find out; we also tried the suggestion to check for stuck paper using a hanger, with no success. Our local plumber here in Maine is not too keen on doing AS toilet repairs, so I'm hoping it's something we can handle ourselves (or give him detailed instructions).

There is a water valve which is connected to the foot pedal. To get to it you have to take the toilet out and turn it upside down. Since our toilet is 25 years old we are going to replace it instead of trying to replace the valve. We have ordered the replacement, should be here in a couple of days, we'll let you know how much work it it to replace the toilet. I would say it doesn't look too hard, but everything takes longer than it think it should.
