Why bypass the water heater when winterizing?

As a new owner, and a DIY'er, I want to do my best to protect my investment (2018 25FB). Since I've drained all the water from the systems, I don't see why I should bypass the water heater. What does that accomplish?

Thanks,
Kirk
PS: Yes, I added antifreeze into the water traps...

You do not need to bypass the water heater unless you plan on pumping RV antifreeze through the water lines. The bypass is intended to keep the antifreeze out of the hot water heater.

It saves 6 gallons of AF you don't need to waste since emptying the WH properly prevents it from freeze danger.

There are good threads here on winterizing - be sure to follow the procedures well. Good luck!
