Looks like your water heater project was the same as mine. I was able to get the original plumbing to match up with the new heater, though. It only took 2-3 hours in all sorts of contortionist positions to do it though. My heater was a "new" pullout on sale at an RV dealer who specializes in factory pullouts. It had fiberglass/cardboard insulation.
