Water pump leaking between head and motor

Have an 2005 Safari that I haven't used in awhile and when I turn on the pump today I notice that the pump would not stop running. Thought it might be air in line until I notice a small amount of water coming from water pump service door. Found that pump was leaking between head and motor. Remove pump and check diaphram on head of pump but it looks fine. Question do I need new pump or is there a pump rebuild kit. Water was flowing fine when I was using it. Pump is a SHURflo 2088-422-144.

Hello, Ezmoneybcs, and welcome to the forums! I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information here along with a whole bunch of really friendly folks!

I was able to locate a schematic of your pump along with rebuild parts:

Premier 12 VDC Repair & Rebuild Kit

The question is whether it's worth the effort in these cases to do a rebuild. Depends on the cost of the rebuild parts, I guess.

Thanks, Guess I should check on the cost of a new pump vs Repair kit. Motor seem to be fine and repaired wouldn't be a problem since it looks pretty simple.

Just order pump @ 59.95 plus shipping just under $70 fix. No since rebuilding at that price. Glad I didn't buy that 5 year extended warranty for for $750 from the Dealer. First problem in 6 years. Couldn't say that with most any other Brand.

Thanks again eubank

Yeah, it took me a while to learn that rebuilding is not always worth the hassle. Like many rebuilds of brake systems on VW beetles before discovering that brand new cylinders cost only cents more than the rebuild kits.
