Water pump

The water pump in my 2000 safari doesn’t shut off when faucets closed. It isn’t the same sound as when water is flowing, kind of a pulsating sound. No water leaks found. The sur-flo pump number 2088-404-144 is no longer an option. This pump was rated at 2.5 gal per minute. The one that pops up 2088-554-144 is rated at 3.5 gallons. Any thoughts?

Sounds like something isn’t completely turned off, or maybe the cap to your fresh water fill is not snug.

Air is getting in some way, keeping your system from pressurizing properly.

Thanks. I had a small leak in the kitchen sink spray nozzle hose. I’m thinking there could have been some water in it over the winter. I guess that is something I never thought to check when winterizing, or maybe it just got old and tired[emoji4]

could also be the pressure switch on the pump isn't any good. They can be fixed, but might be easier to get a new pump. But any small little leak will cause the pump to pulsate, more often than not with a small leak it will turn on, then turn off, then turn on. It doesn't constantly pulse.

It also could be there is air in the lines. I had a similar issue, and then after I drove it, the pulsating noise quit the next time I turned the pump on. I was about ready to replace the pump. Even bought a new one. Maybe driving it cleared out the air. Not sure.

I had the same kind of problem going on as well.

I just ordered a new pump on Amazon and poof—all better.

I was also having trouble with the check valve leaking water into the fresh water tank... So replacing the pump killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

Which brand and model of pump did you get?

More flow is a good thing, and if the pressure is the same then the new pump should work.

Flow contributes more to a satisfying shower than pressure.
