Water Heater Leak Question
2011 FC 30'. The water heater is under the aft bench of the dining table. I'm hooked up at home to power and water. Had a guest staying in the trailer so turned on the water heater (electric, and hadn't been used in several months). Heated the water just fine, but noticed the following morning water on the floor by the dining bench, and the carpeting running up the base of the bench had wicked up a lot of water also. Inside the bench the floor was wet as well, but no obvious sign of a leak. So I turned the hot water off (did not drain the hot water tank though) and dried up the water. Several hours later the floor was still dry. At this point, I'm guessing the leak was caused by the heated water, so I suspect some problem with the pressure relief valve. Assuming I'm correct and the relief valve was not working (i.e. clogged and not relieving pressure), should replacing the valve solve the problem? If it's a clogged/stuck valve, how does the over pressurized hot water get out and onto my floor? Does it have to necessarily break some fitting to get out? Any ideas? Thanks all!
