Water Filter Search

Hello fellow travelers,

I'm looking for a water filter for my '73 Ambassador. Not sure of it's original equipment, but a photo is attached. It's about the same size as an auto oil filter.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks like the Everpure one. They are pricey, and not as easily found due to the fact that they are quite old. Google "Everpure" and I think it's a V400 or V500 the number of the cartridge.

They sell for around $35 plus shipping (I don't know any walk-in stores that stock them).

It might be time to look for a more modern one, with easier to find cartridges...

In reading a history of the ownership of Airstream, within the Beatrice years, they mentioned that Culligan was also once a Beatrice acquisition, and the Everpure was a division of Culligan, so it's not surprising that they were once supplying Airstream with filtering systems.

Do you have a pic of the canister it fits in. Looks like it could be the RV 150. Good advice above - look around on Google - the prices can vary widely....

yeah, that's it. If you enlarge the photo, you can see it says Everpure on it. Thirty-eight bucks, I wasn't far off.

On mine, the holder is steel, with a ring at the top that's tightened with a T-wrench. Quite a nice holder, actually.

How often should a filter cartridge be changed? I put a new system on in June 2009, and take the cartridge off for winterization. Just getting ready for a road trip and am curious if I can use the filter cartridge I have or get a new one. Its Everpure!

The Moen 9600 cartridges for current trailers aren't much cheaper.

I replace mine every year. There is some risk of bacterial colonization when the filters are not used for an extended period of time, so I toss mine in the fall and fit a new one in the spring.
