vaillant water heater

Hi,
I just bought a 62 Flying Cloud and am working out how it all works. I got a hot water feed repaired today. The camper has a Vaillant water heater. When I run it it has hot water almost immediately, but if I let it sit it only sends out steam. I don't have operation instructions. Does anyone have information for this?

I Googled Vaillant water heaters. Vaillant has made water heaters since 1894. It is a German company. Is your unit a demand system (tankless)? There are places in the UK that sell a Vaillant Mag125 unit, along with parts for same. It sounds like there must be a restriction with the water flow. You might check to see if there is a filter at the inlet side or check the heatexchanger for mineral/lyme deposits. As with any LPG appliances, if in doubt, turn off the gas supply to the appliance in question and have a professional take a look at it. Good Luck and have fun with your new 62 FC "Mac"

For a company around as long as Vaillant, it would be necessary for you to supply a model number if anybody is going to have a chance to Google successfully. More info is gooder ...

I saw this reference to Vaillant while looking into a different question: RV Doctor Question of the Month -- last topic on the page. Looks like it has been out of vogue for 30 years or so.

Googling on Norcold and Vaillant together produces very few useful hits. Searching Norcold's website produces zero search results. Mention of parts availability circa 1978 is at an obscure source here. Vaillant water heaters look to be an orphan product. The only other mention at Forums is this thread -- member was last online Nov '06 -- she implies installing a replacement Vaillant. Old LP appliances probably need to be checked out thoroughly for safety. You might need to call around to see if anybody has an RV tech who remembers anything about Vaillants.

Thanks Bob,

I can't find the model number on the unit yet. It has a label for a company called Norco.

I did find a reference on this page http://vintageairstream.com/rr_topics_vaillant.html/.

We did use it this last weekend. My wife did dishes, while I regulated the heater with the bathroom sink. The regulation knob leaks water and the flame doesn't die. Need to get a close look at the unit.

Thanks for all your work, appreciate it greatly.
