Truma Surprise, Carry a Spare O-ring or two.

Last week I brought the trailer out of storage and applied water to the trailer to flush out the antifreeze. When I did water poured from the new Truma water heater. When I winterized last year I pulled the drain leaver out just enough to drain. After completing the drain I pushed the drain leaver up till it latched. With water pouring out of the sealed drain I placed the drain leaver all the way down and pulled the filter assembly out and the o-ring closest to the exterior was enlarged and mangled. I did not pull the filter out when I winterized last year so I am very surprised it would be damaged just from draining. Luckily I had a similar size o-ring off our Swiss Screw machine that was close enough to work.

We were camping in Glennwood, CO and another camper pulled in two slots down and I noticed when he applied water that his Truma was also gushing water out. I went down to let him know and sure enough, his o-ring was also damaged from winterizing last year.

I just ordered a couple of o-rings and a spare filter assembly from Truma.
