Hi

Even *if* the filter might be good for 1.6 seasons, it's a cheap item to replace. Doing it as part of the "out of storage" process in the spring pretty much guarantees it will get swapped out.

If you hit the wrong water supply at the wrong time, your filter is good for about one load of dishes. There is always some level of sediment that will plug a filter quickly.

Replace Pentek with Camco

On Vancouver Island I cant find a Pentek in-line filter except online and then they’re expensive and I’d have to buy a case of 15. I went to my local mechanical contractor supplier (Andrew Sheret Ltd) and for $5 they sold me brass fittings that will allow me to use cheaper and available Camco filters (the Camco filters also have KDF which is said to reduce bacterria growth in the filter when not in use). The Camco filter fits perfectly (same length). The fittings converts the Camco “garden hose thread” to the thread used in the Airstream’s female fittings under sink.

By the way, those plastic fittings Airstream used in the ends of the Pentek filters do easily screw out. Mine did.
