Proper hitch height

I want the trailer to be as level as possible with all the weight on the tongue and the weight equalizer bars/sway bars engaged

Correct. If you're talking about the Basecamp the instructions about this are on page 4-4 of your manual.

Yes, try and have all the gear you think you will most commonly travel with loaded in the TV and the trailer. Don't be surprised and upset if you find you need to move up or down a notch after using it a bit.
