Pressurized Water System

Looking for suggestions for a 12v air pump for a '63 Ambassador fresh water system. Thanks in advanced for comments.

I know those models of Airstreams used a pressurized tank and water system, but I would convert it to a demand pump so fast it would make your head spin. Everything has used a demand system since the 70's, and it's just a better, simpler system.

Do a search for Grover air pumps.

I have the air pressure system in my '61 and I like it. I don't have to listen to a pump come on every time I run a little water. If my pump quits I can use an external compressor such as the 12 volt pump I carry for tires, so don't have to cut my trip short. And I don't have to look for an air compressor to blow my lines out for winterizing.

Thanks Sam! I'm with you, I really like the pressurized system, it's simple. I still haven't fixed my problem with the compressor. After doing research and cleaning the old Grover, I believe it maybe the DC power.

Most any reasonable volume 12 volt air compressor should do. Good ones can be had at off road 4x4 shops, as they like a good compressor when out in the boonies.

Harbor Freight has a fair size one too, just not sure about the quality over time.

You may want an extra check valve on any compressor as a leak could bring water or water vapor back into the compressor itself, which would not be good.

That said, I am with Steve H on a demand pump as a more practical solution, and it gives an increased water capacity, as there is no need for an initial air space in the tank.
