Domestic says its on backlog for 8 weeks?

Different approach. Unless the tank is split they are pretty repairable even the tank only can be replaced. Yes economic cost of tank repair vs replacement does come into play.

What is wrong or broken with unit?

Electricity went off with temp down to zero. I had left heat on but when power went off it froze WH. Since it’s 22 years old my repair guy said it was best to replace. But we’re having trouble finding a replacement..

Hi

Have you tried JC? They *might* have a better shot at getting one.

Well. First determine exactly the model number you need. I recently replaced our water heater in our 99 31ft classic. I believe the replacement was a GC6AA-10E
The dometic website only listed a GCH6AA-10E
Big difference the H stands for heat exchanger which you can't use in a trailer. Much more expensive than a regular GC6AA.

The Dometic water heater (aka Atwood) uses the same model numbers. Airstreams online parts manual for a 1999 Excella lists the Atwood GC6AA-9E. A Google search of the model number of your particular WH is available thru RV Parts Country for immediate shipment. It is an updated model GC6AA-10E. The doors are sold separately but your old one will work on the new heater

If you're replacing the water heater anyway, consider a tankless model. I love mine.

How about a different search approach.

On Airforums there are two TX AS's looking for new water heaters, frozen and split tanks.

How many RV's in the TX, OK and deep freeze area etc area weren't winterized and split the tanks? That might mean that the local RV dealers, big stores, usual big name web places are low on water heater stock to sold out?

How about taking a look for smaller non chain RV stores that were not in the deep freeze or even in the normally colder climates where folks winterize by habit and this is not the big problem. The mom and pop RV store might have one in stock.

I have no clue if this suggestion works. But a bit of searching and calling might find a water heater.
