Lighting Water Heater

Am I missing something? Is there a trick to lighting the water heater? I see lots of info on modern Airstreams and there being a switch in the bathroom. I cannot find a switch. I have gas but it doesn't appear to making it's way to the water heater, or anywhere else for that matter.

Please let us know what other gas appliances you have, which are also not getting propane apparently . . . like a cooktop/stove, fridge and furnace maybe?

What brand and model water heater do you have? Any chance of some photos? I take it that you have never used the water heater before?

If you have an old water heater, you may have to light the pilot light manually.

More details would enable everyone to assist you.

IF it has the original water heater, you would have to go outside, open the access door and light it with a match. But of course with vintage units... everything depends on the.work done by previous owners. The factory should have .pdf documentation on the original configuration.. or you could post your general location and ask other vintage owners to show you the ropes. There are many who are willing and eager to compare notes, and you'll likely find a rally or two where you can trade knowledge for an adult beverage or two.
