I want to get an instant water heater to replace my factory 10 gal tank.
I'm looking at the Gerrard because the price is half of the Precision Temp.
I'm seeing a lot of mixed revues however, and I would like some more opinions,
please.
I'm also wondering what source of the 12 volt ignition would be, as the tank is purely mechanical.
Thank you in advance,
TikiPatrick
We have an Atwood demand heater. It's worked well for us for the one year that we've had it.
The usual caveats apply: it will not turn on for very low hot water flows, and there is some temperature fluctuation as the flame cycles on and off. It heats up very quickly though: you start to get hot water essentially as soon as water from the heater reaches the tap.
Our unit definitely requires 12 V. The ignition uses 12 V power, and there is also a small exhaust fan (like for a desktop PC) that kicks on when the flame ignites.
