HW Heater Replacement

Leak / dripping from rear of alum tank. Assume its from elec heating element screw connection. Tight quarters and can’t actually see the leak/dripping. I assume I need new unit. My gc6aa-9e Atwood is not available. What can I purchase as a direct replacement? I am pretty handy and could replace on my own.Click image for larger version

Just heard the GC6AA-9E is no longer available since 17’ due to a lack of protective coating on the inside of the tank. The GC6AA-10E is available now. Will I need to redo the pen or is it a pure swap in all dimensions? Thanks in advance. John.

You could go on the Atwood website and compare both models specifications. A call or email to them would also confirm what you require.

A shot in the dark. My hot water heater in my 83 excella went out. Busted tank. My cut out is 16”wide by 12 3/4” tall by 17” dp. Would you still have that tank or know where I can get one. Seems Dometic bought Atwood and they are dragging their feet. None available .

Consider diving in a bit deeper. The deep freeze hit water heaters real hard many southern rigs went splitsville.

If it’s the electric heater connection R&R and fix leak. If tank is split oops. Tanks can be replaced.

Good luck.
