Help Dometic Water "Whistle"

We have a dual gas/electric Dometic Water Heater Model 93050 installed in our 2018 FC 23cb. We are hooked up to shore power. Last night the water heater suddenly started making a noise that I can only describe as similar to that of a tea kettle whistle. I turned the electric switch off and let it sit for the night. Turned it back on and the noise started started immediately. Turned it off and the noise stopped. Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks

RonK

Nope.

But Iíd check the temp and pressure valve that thing near the top with the lever/handle on it.

If the tank was too hot would it vent a bit and whistle?

Honestly donít know. Donít have that T shirt.

Did you see any dripping?

Good luck.

Gary

The temp and pressure valve looks fine. No leaks evident when I open the hatch. I am going to look at the back side when I get back to the trailer.

Troubleshooting progress

Got back and took at look at the water heater from the back side. Nothing unusual seen. I then turned it on and ran it from gas. Started right up with no noise. I let it run for a few minutes than turned it off. Restarted with electric and the noise reappeared. Let it run for a few minutes and looked at it from the back and nothing unusual seen. The noise is in the the unit. I then ran the hot water at the bathroom sink. After about a minute the noise stopped. At this point I'll keep it on and listen for it.

I need to gert a thermometer so I can check water temperature.

Thank you for the comments!

Sometimes if there's scale attached to the electric heating element in a water heater it can make a high-pitched sound. I'm not sure what causes the vibration, but it can usually be eliminated by flushing out the tank and/or replacing the heating element if that's the cause. I don't think I've ever heard of this in an RV water heater but it happens in residential ones, so why not?

I'll give that a try. It's in a heated indoor garage during the winter so it has been a about a year since it has been flushed.

Ours whistles when on electricity too. Barely audible.

We have a routine...turn off the WH after evening dishes. Turn it on first thing in the morning. Plenty of hot water for morning use. If using gas only, we run it just once a day.

Interested in a solution.
