Im planning on replacing my gas only water heater with a new electric/gas unit.
Untill then I installed a small 6 gallon 110 volt electric water heater I already had. I installed it in the closet next to the original water heater & piped it in with clear braided neoprene water line & stainless clamps. I installed a 110v on/off switch inline. Any comments on this?
I don't think that tubing is rated for the temps you will have on hot water. It might hold for a while, then burst at an inconvenient time (when would it be convenient, you ask?)
I replaced my old propane 6 gal WH with a new Atwood 6 gal gas-electric. I did not hook the electric up to the trailer power, but rather run a separate extension cord for the heater.
Was a relatively easy replacement and we are very happy with the new WH.
I use Pex for my trailer plumbing. Actually quicker and easier than the tubing and clamp installation.
