That's an excessive temp code. What temp are you setting hot water at? Are you using only hot water or mixing with cold? What is your water pressure like? What's your incoming water temperature like? Is the exhaust fan on the Girard running when the unit kicks on? All can impact an E6 code. - Ari

This is the overheat error. Generally caused by too high of input temperature. Is your water hose in direct sun light? Or are you in a really hot place?

Yes, proof it is not a "hot water heater" it only heats cold water.

If your flow restrict valve located inside the trailer on top of the Girard is adjusted slowing the water flow to much in hot weather it could trigger that vide. Try turning the knob opening it up more.

Honestly we had so much frustration , wasted water when on the tank and ice cold showers with the Girard that we had ours removed and a Truma installed. It’s been perfect showers ever since worth every dime.

In researching a return water system, I read where the return can't go back to the pump or the water heater will overheat, it has to go to the freshwater tank fill line. How is yours connected?

If youíre running one tank with the 2nd tank shut off and the other went empty, you get the code. You have to have LP for it operate.

Confirm that the "return" is going back into the fresh tank and not just back to the pump. I have a Showermeiser, set the temp to 109F and turn the shower on full hot with zero issues...
