Draining Water Heater

So I'm certainly a newbie here and any help will be very much appreciated. We just returned from our first trip out in our "new" 2005 22ft International CCD. Everything went extremely well. Not a single glitch. My wife and I are hooked. My question is now that we are back should I drain my water heater until needed again?

We drain our water heater after every trip, unless we will be leaving again within a week or two. If we think the last water used might have high iron content, we drain it right away even if we will be using it again soon.

If you feel it's needed in your area by all means do it.

We don't after each use here in WNY, just for Winter storage.

We drain ours out of habit. I replaced the plastic plug with a ball valve so the process is fairly simple.

You might find it handy to replace the drain plug with one with a valve if you frequently go on short trips.

Thanks for the advice. I see there are different opinions on this (like most other) topic. Think what I will drain it this time and see how much sediment is in the tank and from there decide if I should drain it after each trip.
