Atwood Water Heater Thermistor

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me anything about the temp. sensor in the gas control valve (enclosed in the probe that screws into the tank)

I think I have a bad one.
I think it is rated at 180 degrees but I haven't seen it yet.
If anyone knows a part number, source or a manufactuer it would be most helpful.

I know I am not supposed to work on this thing BTW.

Well, I finally got around to fixing this thermistor (ECO to some).
A replacment valve was $90 and I know all I needed was the thermister so I got one for $3.00 and fixed the darn thing.

Not bad........$90 or $3

I had a clue to what happened after I visited the Atwood site and read over everthing there.
They caution not to use a aftermarket 120v heating element (this might blow the thermistor).
What they don't tell you is the factory 120v heating element will do the same thing and the only way to fix it (they say) is to buy another gas valve. Hogwash!

Congrats on saving 87 bucks!

Mike:

Thanks so much for sharing this with the forum. It's important that we all, as much as possible, share shortcuts, fixes, and what not to do!

Karma.
